Re: ChinaRider
The keys are a little loud again, as they were often--and again, I love Hornsby, at least when he is on keys not accordion, and he does tear it up, but it's hard to hear the rest of the band. I don't remember there ever being a problem inside the shows, but many '91 SBs seem to have the issue. The Charlie Miller copy is better for this (and most other copies) with one exception--China and Rider are separated.
In any case, the band is ON. I heard this China/Rider was a great version, and indeed it is!
I would give this recording a five star rating for the period, minus one star for the loud keyboard volume levels, plus one star for keeping China and Rider together without a track change. I love the medleys and jam transitions that are not broken with any amount of dead air.
Thanks to all who contribute!

my first show!
I was 16 and drove my parents beat up old suburban to the show packed full of friends. I was too young to get what a special show it was, but loved it, loved it. Loved the parking lot -- that blew my mind as much as the show did. Of course, China-rider was my favorite that night and loved it's all over now baby blue, didn't know how special Dark Star was. Remember seeing everyone hugging when Phil started the baseline -- my thought was, oh Dark Star, cool, I've got a few of these on some late 60's bootlegs. Had an incredible time, though, hooked me for good. 1 week later on a family vacation, my 6 y/o brother pulled 1/2 a joint from between the seat cushions and said "what's this?"....I had a little explaining to do.

5:20 in Jack Straw ! (Oh ! The licks lost to the ages ! )
Listen, this was one of the last *great* shows the boys played.... Thank God for the boards, they fried a loud speaker in NY, and there was this annoying crackle coming from it for the rest of the tour... These two Greensboro shows and the first night of Orlando were a glory to behold. I miss ya, Jer....

Jerry, play Dark Star
I shirtless hippy in the upper deck yelled, "Jerry, play Dark Star" and they did.
Acid was strong that night and the narcs were out in full force. It was an exciting two days and nights and my first seeing the Dead. It was probally the best period since the late 1970s. I didn't know too many folks crazt about Vince and Bruce, however.
